Developing Your Own Image of Success

• Recognize that you have talents and skills that are ingredients of  success. Focus on these and forget your bad entirely.

• Concentrate your energy. One wayto focus energy; Split up your day into the smallest possible segments of time. Treat  each segment as independent and get each task done one at a time. This will give you the feeling of accomplishment and will fuel your energy.

• Take responsibility. Be willing to accept  personal responsibility for the success of your assignments, for the actions of people who work for you, and for the goals you have accepted. Seize responsibility if it is not handed over easily. There are always company problems that are difficult to solve and take them for starters.

• Take action instead of waiting to be told. Listen to other people’s problems and link their ambitions to your goals. Then deliver what you promise.

• Nurture self-  control. Don’t speak or move hastily. Don’t let personal emotions color decisions that must be hard and analytical. Before taking a major action, ask yourself, “What’s the worst that can happen?” Let that guide your next step.

• Display loyalty. No matter how disloyal you feel, never show it. Show loyalty to your boss, your   company your employee. Be positive about yourself and about others. Never run anybody down.

• Convey a successful image. Move decisively-walk fast and purposefully, with good posture. Look as if you are on the way to something rather then moping along.

• When you sit, don’t slump. Sit up-right and convey alertness. Choose a chair of modest dimensions. A large chair makes you look small and trapped. The chair should have a neutral color and be of a material that doesn’t squeak or stick to your body.

• Avoid large lunches-they deprive you of energy sparingly.
